There can be few schools fortunate enough to possess an open-air stage so exquisitely adapted as is that of M. G. S. for the production of what, in our tradition, are known as Pastoral Plays. It was first planned and, in part, actually made, by Mr E. L. Watt, the first headmaster of the refounded Malton Grammar School.

Members of the audience are cordially invited to make a tour of inspection back stage after the performance. They will, we think, be impressed by the forethought Mr Watt showed thirty-seven years ago.

The programme on the left is taken from two ageing folded foolscap sheets, typed in fading text, which has been thoughtfully saved in an envelope labelled "Playbill", glued in to a large black album with the inscription "M. G. S. Dramatic Society". The photos below are from the same album, all mounted with four corner mounts on black pages, all printed by Massers of Malton, and all 5 x 3 inches.
