The Maltonian Website - for Malton School
Alan William Teasdale 1954-2021
Some notes and memories of Alan
In 2022 when updating the 1970s gallery on the website, I shared a photo of the 1971 basketball team on the Malton and Norton Memories website. This prompted a reply from Stephen Flaherty, who named everyone in the team, including Alan Teasdale (Front row, 3rd from right). In turn, Alan's daughter got in touch, and told me her father had died last year on 1 April 2021, after finally losing his battle with cancer.

Stephen Flaherty recalls: I believe Alan Teasdale was from Barton le Street and went to Amotherby junior school. He moved up to Malton County Modern and transferred to the Lower 6th at Malton Grammar School like me. When he left MGS he trained as a history and Geography teacher at Durham University and ended his career at Ormesby school near Middlesbrough. (He was there 32 years.)
When he retired, he was living at Sleights near Whitby although he lived in Stockton for 23 years before that.
He retired in 2010 but became an Examination Inspector part time after that. Alan was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer around Christmas 2020. He died on his birthday in April 2021.
