The Maltonian Web Gallery - Drama production - Our Day Out 2007
From his arrival in September 2006, headteacher Rob Williams was always keen to increase participation in drama activities at Malton School. Eventually this would lead to a new drama studio being opened (in 2012), and the introduction of drama into the curriculum (2013 I think?), but one of his first initiatives was to schedule a "play in a week" towards the end of the summer term, in July 2007. He hired a play director, Joan Gibb, and students were taken off timetable, auditioned and rehearsed over a week, culminating in two performances on Friday 6th July and Saturday 7th July, 2007, the first full scale production at the School since Henry in 1997 (a musical comedy based loosely on Henry VIII). A programme for Willy Russell's Our Day Out is available, listing the cast and crew members. Photos from the play are offered below.
