The new sports centre was officially opened by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, on Tuesday 1 February 2011. The whole school gathered on what was thankfully a fine day to see Dr Sentamu cut the ribbon, make a brief speech, and then sprinkle water on everyone gathered! A tour of the Hall followed, with some demonstrations by students in the hall and on the 3G pitch.
